Established in 1976, TESC has evolved into a multi-trade construction services provider specializing in industrial projects and plant/facility maintenance. Offering civil, structural, electrical & instrumentation, piping, millwrighting, boilermaker and engineered scaffolding services, the construction company primarily serves the Industrial, Infrastructure and Institutional markets. Expanding to Saskatoon in 2008, TESC has successfully grown its services portfolio and built strong partnerships as a unionized contractor in Saskatchewan.
TESC is currently certified to ISO 9001-2015 and it recently renewed its COR Certification in Saskatchewan. The company ensures compliance to code, regulations, legal and client standards through the development of multi-disciplined construction work packages (in compliance with TSASK, CWB, TSSA, ESA, CSA) and the inclusion of extensive Quality Management Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
Over the last 43 years, the TESC team has successfully completed projects with several significant organizations in various markets, such as Vale Canada Ltd., Glencore, Tahoe Canada, The Mosaic Company, Saskatchewan Power Corporation, and Laurentian University. The following provides an overview of the construction capabilities of TESC.
Civil
The experienced civil team at TESC consists of engineers and field personnel who are well grounded in the entire construction process. The company is recognized for its knowledge of handling different concrete structures from unknown soil conditions to safely adding a complex structure to the top of a 350-foot headframe. The team undertakes every project with the highest level of professionalism, integrity and safety. In-house expertise allows TESC to effectively plan, integrate and coordinate with subtrades and all parties prior to putting a shovel into the ground.
Structural
The structural team at TESC has highly experienced and professional Ironworkers and Boilermakers with the resources and equipment to safely handle all phases of steel and vessel construction, repair or modification. The team has successfully managed a wide range of projects including metal installations, such as headframes, the erection of oversized bridge structural steel members, the installation of large process vessels and ducting, and the handling of large equipment utilizing the most advanced rigging procedures.
Electrical
The TESC workforce consists of experienced Certified Electricians, Instrument Technicians, apprentices, as well as field workers who are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). This network of skilled workers provides customers with the expertise, experience and comfort of knowing that any size electrical project will be completed on time and on budget every time.
Piping
TESC provides full-service mechanical contracting. The team designs, fabricates, installs, maintains and repairs process piping, plumbing, heating and ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for industrial and institutional clients. TESC is qualified in HDPE Fusion and FRP piping systems as well as oxygen plant new construction and repairs. TESC also handles the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, pumping stations and sewage treatment stations and have successfully completed both new projects and plant shutdowns.
Millwrighting
The industrial millwrights at TESC specialize in the complete installation of new equipment and the relocation, modification and service of existing facilities. Using the latest precision instruments and working to the most demanding tolerances, the millwrights can respond to a diverse range of projects and handle scheduled, as well as emergency, equipment maintenance.
Boilermaker
The boilermakers at TESC are well-versed with the on-site assembly of different vessels and tanks and have worked on large storage tanks, complex dust collection systems, stacks and scrubbers, and large diameter flues. They can safely fabricate and set up any component for new installations, emergency repairs and maintenance shutdowns.
Engineered Scaffolding
The TESC Scaffolding Group employs a versatile, modular system scaffold which is designed for fast and easy erection and dismantling, and can be custom-fit to virtually all structures inside and out. The system can also reduce on-site workers exposure to hazards. Equipped with experienced erection crews, TESC has ample inventory of scaffold which is staged in forklift racks to allow for quick and easy access so that the team can promptly begin a project.
Industry-Leading Plant Shutdown Capabilities
TESC is renowned for its plant shutdown capabilities: the company has never missed a critical shutdown completion date. The skilled team can undertake the rehabilitation or modification of existing process equipment or the installation of new equipment. Through careful management, the project crews have successfully completed numerous shutdown assignments safely and well within the strictly imposed time and budget parameters.
Project Planning & Project Management Capabilities
With more than 40 years of experience supporting clients in the execution of their projects, the TESC team has a strong understanding of the requirements and criticality pertaining to the management of schedules and costs in order to provide safe, quality work that is cost-effective and completed on time. Project Controls are integral to the TESC project delivery system and help ensure projects are within schedule and budget and sustain good relations between the consulting team, the owner and the contractor. Project Controls also demonstrate the company’s comprehensive knowledge of Project Planning, Project Management Capabilities, construction performance and relevant technical expertise.
Planning is the key to ensuring that TESC has timely and accurate understanding of the project’s progress and projected completion. The team works closely with Estimating, Operations and the client to develop Construction Work Packages, schedule and rules of credit, which make up the basis for progress tracking, reporting and forecasting.
